The Pet Safe Business Spotlight – Wisconsin Pet Care, LLC
Its time once again to celebrate a company that has taken their clients’ safety as their number one priority. There is so much that goes into owning and operating your own pet care business. One of the greatest assets I have found in doing so is the ability to network with others in the industry. It’s hard to navigate the pet sitting waters alone but it’s easy to feel that way when you’re running your own business.
What is the name of your business and what made you choose that particular name? Wisconsin Pet Care LLC. I chose it because I wanted to expand state wide and with a name like this, I can.
Where is your business located and what areas do you serve? Its located from Bayside, WI to Pleasant Prairie, WI, then west to Brookfield. WI. We cover a very large territory.
How long have you been caring for people’s pets? 8+ years
What caused you to start your pet care business? I was laid off from corporate America in 2008. I had no prospects of work and decided if I was going to be poor, at least I would be helping people and be around pets all day.
What is the most fulfilling part of owning/managing your business? Being able to run it, change it, expand it or tailor it however I feel is best.
What is the most challenging part? Hiring and retaining the wonderful employees we have. We are extremely picky about whom we hire-we only hire 1 in 145 applicants and do thorough background checks, inclusive of an interview with a professional profiler who used to work for the NYPD.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Retired and my business being sold.
How has ProPetHero’s pet first aid & CPR certification course benefited your company? When we hire new employees, its difficult to time local Pet First Aid and CPR classes. ProPetHero is perfect for our needs because new employees can pop on as their schedules allow.
Whether you own a pet, are looking to enter the pet care market or are already caring for people’s fur-kids – make certain you know what to do when something goes wrong. Their life depends on you knowing pet first aid & CPR.
